These are all hand carved and as you can see each piece has very unique and distinct markings. Skull carvings in this stone are rare.
This semi-precious stone is found under several names such asSonora Sunrise,Sonora Sunset,Sonora SunroseorCuprite Chrysocolla.
Its name comes from the Mexico state where it is mined.
The Sonora Sunrise stone shows a mix of blue green hues like in the chrysocolla and red tones like in the cuprite. You can sometimes also find a red orange color coming from the chalcotricite and some black from iron or the Tenorite.
The colors remind of desert landscapes when the sun rises or sets with hues which can be very vivid and intense just like the sunshine, or the blue from the sky or the green of cactuses.
History, legends and beliefs about the Sonora Sunrise
The Sonora Sunrise stone is quite a new stone on the market for the mine was open in 2006. Its history is very short.
It is said that since 2011, it is more and more difficult to find it, moreover with good blue and red color qualities.
Mine : the Sonora Sunrise comes from the Milpillas mine in the state of Sonora in Mexico. The mine was open in 2006.
